Sick again!
I have no idea why this semester has been so bad with my kids being sick. I have been lucky, but they have pretty much had something every weekend since August. The pediatrician I work with said welcome to the world of school. Jordan did start preschool in August, and ever since, it has been a whirlwind of colds and horrible stomach flus. Well this one just happened to hit poor Kyle pretty hard. He was being a trooper but didn't feel like eating or drinking anything! The trips to the bathroom were just making him too dehydrated so I ended up taking him to the ER for much much needed IV fluid replacement. He is one tough kid and didn't even cry when the nurse put in the IV. Of course they needed a stool sample, which he refused until he just couldn't hold it any longer. Kyle does NOT like to use anyone else's bathroom but his own and will do anything not to have to. Unfortunately for him, he just couldn't avoid it. We should find out in the next few days if he will antibiotics. Until then we will just have to deal with pedialyte and popscicles. The picture below shows it all. He was pretty miserable but was the perfect patient. And, they were not going to make him lay in that bed, he refused. He wanted to sit in the chair and watch SpongeBob.

Blog???
I have heard it from a lot of people lately! "You need to update your blog!" YES I KNOW! I am sorry, but the blog has been on the very bottom of my lost of priorities...along with cleaning and laundry. Honestly, I thought that this semester was supposed to be the easy one. It's not hard, it's just sooooo busy with lots of dumb paperwork. I just finished up my psych rotation...THANK GOODNESS! Let's just say I have seem some of the craziest of the crazies! It was a good experience, but I am so glad it's over. On the med/surg next week. Not that I particularly like that area either, but it will be nice to get back to something more familiar without having to watch your back! The boys are doing well and Jordan has started preschool. They are each others best friend and play all day long. I don't know what Kyle is going to do when Jordan goes to school all day long next year. YAY! Other than that, there is nothing new. I will try and update more but don't be surprised if the next one isn't until December.

Me
I am: Listening to music and wasting time on the computer
I know: I need to start going to bed earlier when I have to work the next morning
I want: to be done with school
I have: two boys
I wish: gas prices would go down
I hate: cleaning!
I miss: the snow
I fear: something happening to my boys
I hear: nothing from my kids...better go check on them
I smell: Johnson's Calming lotion, the boys thought the walls were dry
I crave: soda
I search: everything...I am always misplacing things
I wonder: if our offer will get accepted on the house we want
I regret: not finishing school before I got married and had kids
I love: sleeping in...I think...it's been sooooo long.
I care: way too much about things that will probably never happen
I always: watch tv before I go to sleep
I believe: I will lose my mind if my kids don't be quiet for 5 minutes!
I dance: hmmm...I used to dance all the time
I don't always: eat what I should
I fight: when I think I am right
I write: never
I lose: my temper too often
I never: Do my hair unless I have too
I listen: if I want to
I am scared: I won't be a good example to my kids
I need: get Kyle potty trained
I am happy about: my new job

Red ICEE mishap!
My kids love to go to samclub because they always know they will get an icee. Tonight just so happened to be a samsclub night so after I got everything I needed, we checked out and sat down for pizza and hot dogs. Healthy I know! Jordan was being really good eating his pizza and icee, but he was sitting on top of the table. Something told me to help him get down, but he was just being so quiet and eating his food, I didn't want to ruin the peaceful moment. Well, peace turned to disaster when he decided he wanted a bite of my hotdog. Somehow, he slipped while getting down off the table going through the benches and landing underneath the table covering himself and Kyle in RED ICEE from head to toe! I was so embarrassed. Both kids were screaming in pain and one nice man and women went and got me a bunch of napkins. No one else seemed to notice (they were probably rolling there eyes). Everything was fine after I got them cleaned up and we even stayed so they could finish all their food. Poor Jordan is covered from head to toe in scrapes and bruises, but he's a trooper.

Week one work update...
Well, I made it through my first week of work. Do I like it...yes. I have really enjoyed it so far. I am sure my nursing instructors would be so happy to hear me actually say I liked something since I have not really liked the areas we have been in so far in school. I think they may have started to wonder what I was doing there! I am sure there will be things that I don't like so much, but I guess it's like that with every job. Does this make me want more kids...NOT YET! It reminds me everyday of the pains of labor and pregnancy and how hard a newborn can be. Maybe someday, but not right now. It does reminds me though of why I finally made the decision to go back to school and finish nursing. Thank goodness I found an area I like.

Yes...I am one of the dorks that was at the "American Idol" concert this last Tues...and it was so much fun. My mom said that it wasn't as good as last year's but I didn't know any different. Of course Michael Johns, David Archuleta, and David Cook were awesome. I got a few pictures but they were on my camera phone so hopefully the girl in front of us with the great camera will email us some soon!
New Job!

Well, I finally got it! I have always wanted to work in women's health and I finally got the extern position I was hoping for. Now I will be working in the nursery, labor and delivery and postpartum at Del Webb! YAY! Don't worry, if you happen to see me there, I am not in charge yet. I have two more semesters left in school. This will be an incredible learning experience and I am so excited. I haven't worked yet but I will start this next week. I have always wanted to work in this area...but what mormon girl doesnt...LOL. I guess I will soon find out if it's really where I want to be.

Girls Night Out!
It was girls' night out for my cousin's wife's birthday about a week ago and I have just been too lazy to post it...since I am on a roll tonight, I figured I would get it done. We went to Margaritaville and had a great time. The band was good but played old fogie songs. We still managed to have a good time. Kara asked the DJ to play "Low" by Flo Rida. He was a little irritated and said we needed to go somewhere else to hear that song! RUDE! But we still had a good time and even danced a little. Talk about feeling a little awkward...I think it has been like 8 years or something since I have done that.

Kim's Payback
Who knew stairs could be so fun!
So Sunday dinner at my parents can always be interesting. My kids seem to come up with new and exciting ideas. Jordan decided to get out his Thomas the Train blowup matress/sleeping bad and use it to "fly" down the stairs. It just looked too fun for us "grown ups" to resist. We used to do crazy stuff like this as kids but Jordan finally found a way to do it a little more comfortably with the blow up mattress. Take a look at the video where Uncle Nathan crashed into me at the bottom of the stairs. Pretty funny...maybe even funny enough for America's Funniest Home Videos? If anyone knows how to make this video look better, let me know.

Heidi Montag...Higher????
Okay, for those of you who waste your life away like me and religiously watch "The Hills", you HAVE to watch this...this is just hilarious. Heidi drives me crazy and this is her new music video I guess. First of all, who told Heidi she could sing? I can't believe she wouldn't be embarrassed having millions of people watching this. WOW! Just copy and paste the link below and make sure you read the comment beneath the video. Tausha, at least you could move in your embarrassing booty bouncing post!

4 weeks to go
I have to tell you, this last semester hasn't been easy and it has left me with no time for blogging. i guess people are tired of seeing my disgusting eye ball cause i keep getting complaints about no updates. Sorry, it's not going to happen any time soon. I have decided to continue a class over the summer so it will make my fall semester a little less stressful and easier to hopefully not have to find a babysitter. Also, give me time to get an externship at a hospital and get a little more experience in that setting. Then maybe I won't look so much like a deer in the headlights when I go up to the different floors. Other than that, there is no new news!

Visine Won't Get This Red Out!
Of course I didnt really think that I could get away with not getting pink eye. I thought I was in the clear since my kids had it exactly a week ago. Who knows if it came from them or another grocery cart but I got it. I have never had it before but man it hurts. Just like a constant stining burning goopy feeling. I spared you all of the goop and crust this time. I just think these pictures are cool. This is when you KNOW you have pink eye cause the whites of your eyes are no longer white! Oh well, it will take me a lot less time to get ready in the morning cause I can't where makeup for five days! I had other pictures on here but I an't believe how bad it got. It HURTS!

Pink eye!
What a disgusting infection. I knew it was going around but didn't think I would have to deal with it. Good thing that I have spring break from school this week. Kyle woke up with it this morning too. Lovely! I guess it could be worse, we could be throwing up! I shouldn't jinx myself.
If you are ever wondering whether or not you have it, check out these pictures as an example. Beware...it is pretty gross! Check out all the goop!

Busy week
Okay blogging is addicting and it is a way to sometimes just just say what you want to say. This last week was pretty hectic. I can say that this semester has been 100% harder then last semester...I am still doing well and enjoying it but it is crazy busy! I was at a school for clinicals this week and I thought it was pretty much going to be a waste of time. When I thought of peds clinicals I was thinking Phoenix Children's Hospital, not an "inner-city" elementary school. But I was very surprised at how much I learned this week and also about myself...I CAN handle throw up being one of them. The children that I dealt with were very much in the lower class and poverty. Most of them had only one parent, or the grandparents were raising them. They didn't get showers very often, nor did they get routine vision, dental, or medical care. It was very sad to see because most of these children have no chance at a meaningful life. It's not their fault, it is the parents. I started realizing how important it is for children to have a loving mother and father and what a huge difference that makes in how a child grows up into an adult. There were some kids with what we view as a "normal" family, but they were definitely the minority. I could tell a huge difference in the way the home life defined these kids. The were shy, would not look you in the eye, and actually very easily agitated. They smelled bad because they were not taken care of. Surprisingly, the smell didn't bother me cause I felt so bad for these kids. I don't really remember having a headache as an elementary school kid but we saw headache after headache. It really made me look at my life and how lucky....and spoiled...I was to have the childhood I did. Every kid deserves a fair chance but for some reason it seems society and changed what they view as acceptable and normal. Single parent families are definitely so common that it has become normal. Too bad it is at the expense of children who have no control over their lives when they are so young.
